At the heart of our mission is a commitment to helping those who serve, and their families achieve their dreams without the weight of financial stress. We’re proud to offer two $2,000 awards to students who embody both educational excellence and a strong foundation in financial literacy.

HPCU Student Success Scholarship - 

 To apply, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • Be enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university for Fall 2026.
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26 at the time of submission.
  • Be a member of HPCU in good standing (verification of membership is required).

 

HPCU Future Law Enforcement Scholarship - 

 To apply, you must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen or legal resident.
  • Be enrolled full-time at an accredited U.S. college or university for Fall 2026.
  • Be earning a degree in Criminal Justice or another law enforcement-related field of study.
  • Be between the ages of 17 and 26 at the time of submission.
  • Be a member of HPCU in good standing (verification of membership is required).

  • The importance of financial literacy in today’s world.
  • How you plan to manage your personal finances—during college and beyond.

  • Recipient Notified: By July 15, 2026
  • Disbursement: Funds will be distributed directly to the indicated university or college before Fall 2026 tuition deadlines.

   Our scholarship committee—composed of HPCU leaders—will evaluate entries based on:

  • Clarity and originality of thought
  • Practical understanding of financial literacy
  • Personal commitment to responsible money management
  • Written Communication skills

*Entries will be accepted between May 1st, 2026 through June 30th, 2026. All submissions must be submitted no later than 11:59 P.M. CST on June 30th, 2026. Scholarship winners will be contacted no later than July 15, 2026. Determining whether a degree path is related to law enforcement is at the discretion of the selection committee. Upon being selected for the scholarship, the recipient will have one week or seven days from the initial point of contact to accept the awarded scholarship. If the recipient does not respond within one week or seven days from the initial point of contact, the scholarship will be forfeited and awarded to the next student deemed qualified to receive it. The college/university indicated by the student(s) will receive a one-time disbursement of $2,000.00 towards tuition costs for the scholarship recipient(s). Scholarships will be awarded only to applicants deemed qualified by the selection committee. If no eligible submission meets the qualifications for a particular scholarship path, Houston Police Credit Union reserves the right not to select a recipient for that scholarship. Houston Police Credit Union employees, Board members, volunteers, their immediate families, and those in the same household are not eligible to apply.
